It has been some time since I reported any find as every time I go out all I get is a few tinkers that hardly covers fuel expenses.
Yes, everything comes to those who keep walking, at least that is what i kept telling myself for the first few days of wandering the hills of Warwick over the last 10 days, then strolling from one ridge to the next i get a very load signal, thinking trash i clean away 4" of leaf litter and sticks, it is still there, down i go into the black soil for 4" and open up the hole, signal now very large, now very sure it is gold so go and get mate to see what comes out.
Into the hard clay I go, out comes the first clods, signal still there.
I now look up and down the slope to see if the old timers had worked this far up the slope and decide no, it must be gold.
Into another layer of clay and I pull out the clods by hand, signal gone, THERE! in a clod at my knees I see the tell tale unmistakable glint. smile.gif
The rest is history and the following pics tell the story.

Your smile is nearly as huge as that yellow bit Garry. It looks like a real keep sake for a QLD resident.
Regards Geof.

Warwick, South Queensland GarryW? That IS some find.

Although a favourite spot for weekenders, I have never heard of a nugget that big coming from the hillsides. Two to three grams, yes! But a whopper like that? Congatulations and watch the rush.... wink.gif

George - 16" Nugget finder with the 3000 - I doubt any Pulse machine would have missed it.
Patchs - you are right most .5 - 4 grams This one is a rarety but further up the slope some nuggets up to 40 grams were found earlier in the year.
