In the discussion about metal shafts on a few threads below I see some issues? It seems we have a few who think Left, OK that is cool with me. Then some of you who think Right. That is better.. or is it??? But most of you newbies may not be thinking at all??? BUT just watching/reading/listening. Guess what... that is a good thing to do until you get out in the field and experience it yourselves.
This link, to a great story should help many of you newer folks out. Doc is the one who experienced this occurance and so make sure he gets all credit.
BTW. Happy Birthday Doc.. Big 58 as of yesterday.

HI Gerry and All
All I can say is I`ve seen you repeatadly on numerous outings pop out 1-2 grammers at depths that challenge the GP`s limits on Gold of this size.I have to agree that we can maximize our machines sensitivity thus being deeper on SMALL gold before we even turn them on by simply getting naked!!!Many of us are NOT hearing fringe area nuggets or if we are we blame it on ground noise. Minelab`s newest beast the 4000 has got to be more sensitive to any ferrous or non ferrous distractions so travel as non conductive as possible,we spend lots of bucks on equipment,gas,time...to put ourselves in the field and then quietly start detecting with TOO much gear on and take the NEW Technology down a few notches without even realizing it
:oDoc`s story really reinforces the importance of this!
Gerry,
You always seem to have the most gold at the end of the day,it may not be the monster nuggets but digging deep small gold on a regular basis tells that your getting most of it(Stuff most of us leave behind)!!!!Look at you and Montana,Chris, and a few others out there you always seem to have a handful of nuggets and make this great hobby look easy....!Most of us have to detect in locations that have already been pounded!!SO HEARING FRINGE AREA NUGGETS IS VERY IMPORTANT
These are the ones that will TEST YOU AND YOUR EQUIPMENT....
START OUT ON THE RIGHT FOOT
Just Keep Your Clothes On!!!! LOL!

Worse than that, Marc, is that those locations have been pounded by Gerry, Montana, Chris, and the like!
