Hi All,

I think I’ve mentioned before that my mother works in conjunction with the Arizona Game & Fish Dept. helping to rehabilitate injured or displaced wildlife. Well, we get a phone call today from her saying she has two raccoons that are scheduled for release, but no one in the office could decide where exactly to let them go. I offered a spot up here in the northern Bradshaw Mountains with very few people, running water, and plenty of frogs & lizards to fatten them up over the summer.

She drove up this afternoon with her cargo. When I peered inside the cage I couldn’t help but smile at how cute the little things were. Almost instinctively I went to pet them, until a deep hiss came from the cage and I saw several rows of very sharp teeth! blink.gif I decided it better to keep my fingers and simply look through the bars of the cage. We took them a short distance down to the creek and opened the door. I thought they would bolt for sure, but neither seemed overly excited about leaving the security of the cage. Finally a couple of heads poked out, they sniffed the air a few times, looked at us, and then hauled straight to the top of an oak tree. It was a comical circus act as they tried to crawl over each other sending a shower of broken branches down the whole time. smile.gif

Poor things had been cooped up at the center for over a month waiting to get clearance to be released. When I looked at the two critters swinging merrily in the breeze, then over at my mother’s face, I couldn’t decide who was happier…Anyway, thought some of you might get a kick out of these pictures. If you go camping in the Bradshaw’s be sure to zip up your tent because there are two more residents out there that would be more than willing to help you eat your groceries! wink.gif

Here's another of them hanging out in the tree...

Hi Chris. That's a great story. If you haven't seen these people releasing a leopard, have a look. It borders between hilarious and horrifying....

BTW, I finally got the shrink tubing I needed to install the Montana Surround Sound system and finished that up today. I'll be going out for the 1st time with the system tomorrow. Thanks a bunch for a great product with great instructions.

Slim. Not a very grateful kitty. Of course he probably didn't like being poked with a stick.

Hi Bob. Believe it or not, I haven't been out very much. Work and RV repairs have left little time for beeping. Something always seems to pop up. I believe I scored my first double (2.5g & 10.3g) since you stopped by. I'm hoping I can get out more often in the next week or so.
