Thanks for the reminder. I am sure you are right about this problem.
I have been so busy with civilian life I forgot to get it in the mail.
I'll do that when I get back next week.
Hope you had a good birthday...you're about four years behind me
so I don't want to hear any complaining about how hard it is...
Seriously,
Happy Birthday and continued success at what you love.

How do you know your unit is missing targets? Did you see the targets on the ground and then the unit wouldn't detect them? Just curious as my GPX-4500 seems to be working great still and my serial number is under 00040. I took a couple of GPX-4500 customers out today and we worked an old patch at Rich Hill. I found a bunch of small targets at depth with my unit, but none of them were gold.
Maybe I should send mine in to make sure I'm not missing something.
On another note, used the dual external speaker system today. I'm very impressed, so I ordered about three more!
Take care,
Rob Allison

The serial number of my GPX is included in the recall, but I haven't got a recall notice from Minelab yet; should I send it in anyway? I've noticed loss of sensitivity with different coils as well.

P.S. I talked with Minelab this morning and they said to go ahead and send it in; I've got your old 4000 for a back-up in the meantime.

I will probably send my in soon since I got my backup GPX-4000 tuned up from Minelab. However, I've had two customers that purchased GPX-4500's that claim after the fix their units are not as sensitive!
Talk with you later,

Rob. Mine has gotten so bad that while running a mono coil It's just like switching it to cancel when I switch to enhance.----Bob

I have one outing under my belt with my repaired 4500. Before sending it in it was unstable compared to my old 4000. I don’t pretend to know what magic Minelab put on my detector, but I can make it as quiet as I want now. My 1/10 gram test nugget is loud and clear again. I have been trying to rid myself of the skunk for 3 weeks and did so in the first 20 minutes with the repaired 4500. I dug 2 nuggets out of the same hole. Yahoo!! Kinny

I've heard of some coming back and working awesome (quiet, stable and sensitive as hell), while others are having problems with various timings. I've heard some are having trouble after the fix with the Special/Extra timings being very "unsensitive or desensitized" to small gold nuggets.
I'm a bit scared to send mine in ....
Hope you get it resolved ASAP with Minelab USA.
Keep us updated.

and here I tried to 'do the right thing' for once in my life
and sent it in on Monday.
Hope I can keep my fingers crossed long enough
til it comes back...
Sorry to hear about yours Bob.
Of any of us that have a 4500, you are the last one
who deserves to have one come back not working.
Hope it gets fixed to your satisfaction,
and soon...
All the best,
Flak
