Hot Bedrock Question?

I'm in a wash with alot of exposed bedrock and i cain't get my 3500 to quiet down no matter where i put my coil it's way to unstable.i'm using a 14"NFE mono.now when im out of the wash say up on the bank i can run very quite and ground balance no problem,the country rock , im sure is some type of volcanic mineral.My detector is in all metal,soil normal,boost normal,coil normal,tracking normal,Balance is fixed.will a DD coil help in this situation because of the high mineral content??? im not trying to punch thru the bedrock but searching the cracks,ect unsure.gif unsure.gif unsure.gif

Hi Sedonared,

Hot bedrock is not uncommon in the southwest, especially if it is volcanic in nature. This also happens in areas with granite and lots of black sand. You can try raising the coil off the bedrock an inch or two which should help, just be sure to swing slower. You might also experiment with your DD. If the bedrock is that noisy it might be the way to go.
