The BLM is holding two and only two public meetings (scheduled for November 18 and 20)
before they implement their plan for the area. Here's a link with the specifics and maps.
BLM Meeting
Make our voice heard now, because once their plan is in place it's virtually impossible to reverse. Later...Jim P.

Hi Jim,

I noticed the BLM is calling it a 'Recreation Area' and I'm wondering if they will continue to allow detecting/prospecting, or close it off like the one at Lake Mead. Thanks for info; I am planning to make one of the meetings.

Hi Jim,
Will you be posting a follow up to the BLM meeting? I live in N. California any couldn't make the meeting, but would like to know what the BLM is up to.

Emptypockets. The reason the BLM is focusing on that area is that it is one of the most abused pieces of public land in Az. The target shooters haul refrigerators, old TVs, and every other type of junk imaginable out there so they can tear it to shreds with their automatic weapons, the rock crawlers use all the narrow box canyons as their playground, the gangbangers dump bodies there, joyriders dump stolen cars there, the locals use the washes for landfills and the partiers leave mountains of empty beer cans there. Unfortunately it is(or was) also a good nuggetshooting area. They have to make a decision whether to try to save what's left or leave it to the pigs. I think it's too far gone. A group cleaned up some of the old car bodies and appliances a couple of years ago and within just a few months all the junk was back. I don't know what the BLM hopes to achieve by placing more rules when they can't enforce the ones already in place, and with almost certain budget cuts coming they will be even more ineffective. They'll put up signs and the target shooters will mow them down within weeks. It used to be a fun place to go with swimming holes , lots of trees along the Agua Fria, desert washes to detect, but now it is the worst of the worst places that attracts vandals , criminal types, human pigs. I say let them have it now that it is ruined and hope that they will stay there and not spread the filth to other places.----Bob

Bob
I see that same thing where I live here in N. Cal. Just pisses me off to no end. Makes you want to just lay in wait for these jurks and put a few rounds over there head. Sometimes I think this country is going to have to resort back to a form of vigilante justice just to make a point not just to the criminal but to the authorities also saying enough is enough. I guess after working for the dept of the youth authority for 20 years I've become a bit jaded.
Hawk.

Hey Bob, I just returned from that "spot" we both know of there for a quick DW test and had some numb nuts on the ridge above to the south open up fire with some type of assault weapon into the canyon bottom we were working. One round hit too close for my comfort and I sent 4 round from the Sig back at their truck which was west of where they were standing. I heard one loud connection on metal and they stopped, then went over to their truck and looked around a bit, then tore off out of there. Called the SO and made a report just in case. The area will most likely get closed and the jerks destroying it now will move further north into black canyone more than they are now.

Lotsaluck. That's why I say let them have that place, it's already beyond repair, and maybe they won't venture elsewhere to do their BS. I'm all for gun rights, but I really wonder about the nuts with assault rifles spraying the hillsides wrecklessly . They aren't target shooting to improve their hunting or marksmanship skills, just shooting to hear the noise. Lots of that Rambo stuff going on in that area.-----Bob
