Fortunately I was able to get away from Vegas again for a couple days this past weekend for some detecting in the AZ. desert. I got skunked on Saturday but managed to chase it away early yesterday morning by finding this decent little nugget a few inches down, behind a Yucca on the side of a little finger wash. When I found it, I had just started detecting for the day and not more than five minutes into it, I got a pretty good hit and it turned out to be this 1.6 gram nugget, which was the only find for the day...but hey I ain't complaining! biggrin.gif This is the largest one I have found so far and needless to say I was and am pretty jazzed!!

Bob,

I am jazzed not matter what size nugget I find, heck it does not even have to be gold as long as it is out of the ordinary, except for blasting caps.

CONGRATULATIONS and WOO HOO!

Congradulations Bob, nice looking little nugget. Any gold is better than no gold. I didn't get to chase the skunk away today, but I did see a tortoise run.(well more like crawl)

Being skunked is a local expression used by the prospecting community at large.
I am one of the foremost examples of people who get skunked.
If you would like to rent mine for awhile,
I think he's getting bored with sitting around near the computer.
He travels well, doesn't eat much, is house trained and very friendly.
But sometimes he IS hard to get rid of...

All the best,

Flak

Hey Ray,
We use the term getting skunked to say we didn't get anything. You see Skunks are legendary for their powerful predator-deterrent—a hard-to-remove, horrible-smelling spray. A skunk's spray is an oily liquid produced by glands under its large tail. To employ this scent bomb, a skunk turns around and blasts its foe with a foul mist that can travel as far as ten feet (three meters). As you can see when we say we got skunked" our luck was stinky.

Hi Emptypockets, I would much rather find even a little piece of gold. But those skunks are pretty cute.
