Sitting here in SoCal since June 14th with the USAF and will be transitioning to Creech AFB near Vegas towards the end of July through September. Have my 705 I got from Chris and have not been able to do any prospecting in California yet due to timing. But I really want to try Nevada and looking for suggestions or pointers? I see the GPAA has a club in Vegas and Im thinking Ill attend the end of July at their meeting if possible. Be nice just to get out and swing the detector and learn a few things.

Hi Chad,
If you don't mind a little drive, you might try the Gold Basin or the King Tut placers on the Arizona side. The area gets pretty hot during the summer and there's no shade to be found, but it is a great place for detecting during the winter months. It is wide open country with very little trash and it has produced some nice chunky nuggets over the years. On a map it will be roughly north of Dolan Springs. I can't remember if the GPAA has any claims in GB, but I'm fairly sure they have two over towards KT. Best of luck with the new detector!

GPAA has a claim out at Gold Basin and most everything else is claimed up either by Mohave Prospectors in Kingman http://www.mohaveprospectors.org/
or Gold Searchers of Sothern Nevada in Vegas, you might try out their club as they have a bunch of claims. http://www.goldsearcher.com/ The King Tut area is much claimed up also

Hello Phantom...Welcome to the forum...there is a great amount of knowledge here on the forum to experience...I do go out to Gold Basin myself... You do not need a 4x4. There is another member here on the forum stationed at Creech AFB, he is at Afghanistan right now! He work obviously with the Predator program. His name here is Zimak...and he has not been able to write back yet. What is your AFSC? I am a F-16 crew chief at Nellis AFB... I am going to try for Gold basin this Friday or this weekend...Your welcome to come along...I am a GPAA member and I know where the claim is at. Any other question let me know...Many people here goto Gold Basin as well, feel free to hook up when offered. Take care...Guido...

You've got plenty of ground to cover in gold basin area, and king tut is just over the hill from there. Meteorites an gold to be found. Gold basin is one of my favorite places.
Kingman Az. is a little farther down the road an I belong to Mohave Prospectors Assn. Meetings are the first tues. of the month 7 PM Easy to join 35bucks first year 25 thereafter we have 3 claims in G.B. an 1 at king tut area then 1 more in kingman area. If you want to come to a meeting P.M. me an I'll give you the details or online mohaveprospectorsassn.
Wellcome an hapy huntn

Hi
Just wondering if any one else has this issue ? .. i use heading select to select say 050 degs , the A/C will back to this heading but over cook it by about 5 degs then backs backs to recapture it . Is there a manual fix for this ? happens in the 757 and 777.
Thanks
Rich
