Jones Beach, NY Reopens West End

Recommended Posts

I got out to Jones Yesterday morning at 8am, and detected the dry sand for the first three-hours without much luck. I put on the waders and hit the wet sand and water for the next three-and-a-half-hours. Between myself and my hunting partner Joe P., we had less than $9.00 in clad, and a couple of pieces of junk jewelry. There were at least 25-30 guys out detecting the beach during the day, but two-weeks after Superstorm Sandy, the sand has flattened out and there's not much to find. The gold is buried deep. The devistation is widespread, with portions of beaches, boradwalks and buildings flattened or just gone. It was overcast most of the day, but around 2pm the sun came out. Hope you enjoy the photos.
