Great week in Q

Recommended Posts

Well i had a great 13 days in AZ.( feb.4 to 16th.) spent 3 days in stanton weather was cool and a litle bit of rain, found no gold but lots of lead,so i packed up and headed west to quartzsite.

Things took a turn for the better when i got over to quartzsite, nice warm, really warm weather and found some good gold.

The first little nugget came off the QMDC claim at middle camp went out there for their outing_ meeting, they had done a push in late november so went out to work it and was told i would not find anything but in10 to15 min. i had a nice little .7 gram nugget ( love it when i'm told i won't find anything).

Then went out to tom wells and camped for several days and found two more small nuggets a .6 and .5 gram pieces, these were found working the bottoms of some small washes, that is when i decided to work out of my comfort zone, i have allways kind of got into a rut of staying in the bottoms of washes or just working the tops of ridges so i decided to look for small benches that were located just above where small dranages seamed to flow into each other, so that meant i had to do a fair amount of looking around and detecting just small areas, but it did payoff with a nice 14.3 gram nugget, it was great, my 60th birthday was on the 13th so a nice little Bday gift to myself.

So after about 7 days without a bath it was time to head to town get a hotel room and a hot shower on sat. then headed out to the QMDC coin hunt in the town park lots of fun.Was going to stay for one more week but had to head home because of a water emergency( broken water line above my house). overall i had a good time and i learned somethings about my detecting style that will help me, hopefully find more and maybe bigger gold in future.post-36463-0-40104400-1393002536_thumb.jpgpost-36463-0-87009200-1393002601_thumb.jpgpost-36463-0-47451500-1393002603_thumb.jpgpost-36463-0-43647100-1393002606_thumb.jpgpost-36463-0-65110800-1393002608_thumb.jpg

WHAT A GREAT POST

Thank you! A very informative post with really nice pictures. Thank you for sharing the information about how you changed your prospecting technique. I tend to get in a rut just like you mentioned and will try to follow your lead. What kind of detector/ & coil do you normally use? Trying something new sure worked well for you, hopefully we can all learn from your success. Congratulations on the nice nuggets!!
