Think its a button?

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I found this target not long ago while hunting for gold. It looks to be an old button that probably belonged to one of the miners that discovered this area back in the very late 1800's. I'm not exactly sure what its made out of. Its silver colored and fairly soft; almost feels like lead. There are 2 small holes. What do you guys think, any ideas?

Cool find Chris.

It looks kind of like a drop of molten lead. Perhaps melted lead dropped onto a surface which transferred a little of the surface pattern onto the "bottom" of the button. The "top" has a kind of expanding wave like circular character. It'd be neat to try to replicate.

Looks like a lead splatter to me as well, I guess it could of been use for a button, do the holes look like thye were punched in or a natural part of when the piece was "poured/splattered"?

Thanks for the input everyone. The holes definitely look man made to me. Maybe it was found as a solid piece and turned into a button? I need to go back and look for more...
