Awesome Day!!!

Recommended Posts

Had an awesome afternoon today out swinging the 4500 in the Central Arizona gold fields. My first ever over an ounce day and single nugget weight record breaker!

Total weight.

A 1.5 ounce day :) !!! Happy Valentines Day to me :D .

I didn't get a pic of the 1 gram nug in the field. It was the first one found. All three were found in a 20' run using the 14x9" Evo.

Absolutely awesome day of detecting!!! I haven't seen pieces that large come out of that country in a really long time. It's nice to know that a few are still lurking. Congratulations again on cracking the 1+ oz day, I can't wait to see those in person!

BE CAREFUL! ...That is an alien gold brain! ... The most dangerous level of alien at that! ... DON'T touch anything electric ... even static electric ... to it as it could come alive and take over your world! LOL! Beautiful!

"Hey Dean",

Now that you have scored those two nice slug-nuggets, "maybe" you can now afford to get some gloves that cover your fingers and finger tips.

I usually wear out the finger tips on my left-hand glove from digging. But I always cover my complete hands with gloves, as I have been stung by a scorpion once, (on my pinky finger) and have had "way-to-many" close calls with scorpions, centipedes, spiders of all types, and even a black widow spider (or two). The bark scorpion in Arizona is pretty nasty.

I pretty-much grew up on a ranch down in Skull Valley, and when I was younger took sheer delight in flipping dried cow paddies to see how many scorpions I could find and smash with rocks and sticks (kind of a hobby-thing I guess??). I guess you could say that that sting from the scorpion impacted my life a bit. I no longer flip cow paddies, but I definitely have a "0"-tollerance for any critter that my eye sees wiggling from out under a rock, within dried leaves, brush, or pine needles <_< Gary

Hey Gary,

I too, have had some close calls with scorpions when out detecting. Not so much in the winter up here. You are giving good advice! I do have some full fingered gloves in my kit that I will switch to soon as it is warming up. I've never been stung (knock on wood). I have been bit by a diamond back on my right hand though (in my back yard when I lived in Cave Creek). An experience I would care not to repeat! Thanks for the heads up I appreciate it!

Good job on your success lately!

Dean
